The Hong Kong Federation of Insurers (HKFI) and the RoadShow today (21 July 2012) jointly held the "Embracing Warmth Cushion Design Workshop" to encourage participating families to show their respect and care for the elderly through designing and creating cushions. The finished products will then be delivered to senior citizens at an elderly home run by the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tuen Mun.
Officiating at the kick off ceremony today were Secretary for Labour and Welfare Mr Matthew Cheung, GBS, JP, Chairman of the HKFI Ms Agnes Choi, Chief Executive of the HKFI Mr Peter Tam, Roadshow’s Chief Operating Officer Mr Thomas Lo, Evangelical Lutheran Church Social Service of Hong Kong’s Assistance Chief Executive (Corporate Affairs) Mr Lin Siu Sau and TV celebrity Ms Barbara Chan.
"The Hong Kong Federation of Insurers is very delighted to be part of this meaningful event," said Ms Agnes Choi, Chairman of the Hong Kong Federation of Insurers. "Ageing population is one of the most critical challenges faced by our society. While the insurance industry is dedicated to explore and offer solutions through practical and professional manners, we have never lagged behind in our CSR commitment to care for the elderly."
Over 100 participants took part in the event. They created the most innovative designs which best express love and care for the elderly. Six winning families received an award of $2,000 each from Mr Thomas Lee, Deputy Chairman of the HKFI.
These cushions with unique design will be presented to elderly at the Evangelical Lutheran Church’s Tuen Mun Elderly Centre on 30 July 2012.
